Professional Experience, Achievements, and Goals
Mrs. Tiffany M. Springer begins her post as Director of Curriculum and Instruction this year. Mrs. Springer has a strong history of positive results with schools in Galesburg and nearby communities. She started her career in 2003 as an English teacher at R.O.W.V.A. Jr-Sr High School. She then became a classroom teacher at Galesburg’s Nielson Elementary (grade 5) and Lombard Middle School (Grade 7 E/LA). She then became Lombard’s Assistant Principal and Athletic Director before accepting the principalship at Orion Middle School. Mrs. Springer returned as Principal at Silas Willard Elementary School until accepting her current position.

Mrs. Springer graduated from Monmouth College in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and Middle School Endorsement. She finished her Master of Science in Educational Administration from Western Illinois University in 2007 and is currently working on a Doctorate in Education through WIU. Mrs. Springer is a Mortar Board Scholar, was Phi Delta Kappa President, and earned the John Ranger Educational Administration Scholarship while at WIU.

Mrs. Springer states, “As I begin the 2018-2019 school year, in this new position, I am eager to work collaboratively with the teachers and the staff of Galesburg District #205. In addition, I look forward to working with parents and community members to enhance and inform our goals and objectives. I believe in the school system that we have here at District #205 and am eager to see how we can work together to provide students with an extraordinary educational experience.”

As stated previously, Mrs. Springer is currently working on earning a doctorate degree from Western Illinois University. Although this will be a lengthy process, she says that she is eager to see it through to completion. In the future, Mrs. Springer would like to teach at the college level. She believes that it would be inspiring and rewarding to help mold the next generation of aspiring teachers.

Mrs. Springer feels fortunate, as a Galesburg graduate, to have had such fabulous educators throughout her educational career. She has wanted to be "the teacher" since preschool! There are several key educators who stand out to her because of the way in which they made the classroom material and content engaging and lived out their genuine passion for teaching on a daily basis. In her experience, those educators made learning challenging, but fun and built relationships with students in the classroom. The atmosphere in those classrooms was dynamic and captivating. Wanting to emulate what she observed in those classrooms, she felt destined to become a teacher.

Throughout her career, Mrs. Springer has enjoyed numerous memorable experiences. The greatest experiences for her come from connections with students she has enjoyed well after their time in her classrooms. Building and sustaining relationships with students and their families is something that she values greatly.

She also loves taking family vacations and going on impromptu getaways! When time permits, she enjoys singing in her church’s choir at Bethel Baptist Church in Galesburg.

Mrs. Springer is a Galesburg High School graduate and is also a first-generation college student who understands the value and impact that education can have in the life and prosperity of an individual.
