Summer Enrichment Opportunities for CUSD #205 Students

This summer, Galesburg CUSD #205 is excited to partner with Camp Kidz, Carl Sandburg College, and Knox College to offer enriching opportunities for our students. With an emphasis on educational growth and exploration, we encourage families to take advantage of the scholarships available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Don't miss out on this chance for your child to experience new activities and gain valuable skills! Please note that transportation will not be provided by District #205. We look forward to an amazing summer filled with learning and fun!

Carl Sandburg College Dual Credit

District #205 will provide scholarships for available dual credit courses offered by Carl Sandburg College this summer for students entering grades 10-12.  Students earning a passing grade in a dual credit course will receive both high school and college credit.  Students can use the scholarship for a maximum of one course this summer. Students who are already registered and have paid may be reimbursed for costs. In order to take advantage of this opportunity, the steps for a student to take are as follows:

  • Apply to Carl Sandburg College at www.sandburg.edu/apply. (new students to CSC only need to apply).

  • Schedule to take the Accuplacer test.  To sign up, go to www.sandburg.edu/accuplacer and then visit campus to take it. Note the student must score 247 or higher to take BIO 101, ENG 101 and PSY 101. All other courses require a score of 227 or higher. For the Math portion, a score of 256 or higher is required for college coursework unless high school courses or SAT/ACT scores waive this requirement.

  • The student should then schedule a meeting with their high school counselor to determine what classes best fit their needs, as well as complete the registration form.

  • CSC will then bill District #205 for the first 25 students to take advantage of this opportunity.  Summer courses begin on Monday, May 19, 2025.
