Galesburg High School Environmental Science students recently attended the OCEANS conference held in Dubuque, Iowa. Autumn Choma, Skye Clark, and Levi Jones were accompanied by their teacher, Carol Buebe for the two-day trip. Ms. Buebe has taken students to the conference for years and this year the conference costs were covered by a grant so each participant was able to attend for free.
The students participated in an intensive watershed workshop that was held at the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium (NMRMA). They also had other workshops that were held throughout Dubuque County and on the Mississippi River.
According to the NMRMA website, the workshop is designed to inspire a watershed stewardship ethic in students and build upon their confidence and individual environmental literacies.
