A 20-year tradition continues for students in Mrs. Stecher's first-grade classroom. Mrs. Stecher sends home a paper turkey with each student every November. The students are tasked with decorating their turkey with their family and returning it to school to be entered in a school-wide voting competition.
Today and tomorrow, all King Elementary students will visit the wall of decorated turkeys and decide which turkey is their favorite. Once all the votes are received and counted, the "Grand Turkey" award winner will be announced next week. Additional awards include the Teacher Choice and Principal Choice awards.
Students in the upper-grade levels enjoy seeing the turkeys because they remember the decorated turkey they completed with their family when they were in first grade.
It will be a tough decision to pick a favorite with the wall of all the creatively decorated turkeys!
