Outdoor Education day has been a tradition in Knox County since 1985. The theme of the outdoor education day has remained the same throughout the years, to teach students how to improve, protect and enjoy their environment.
There have been many individuals who have contributed to the success of the event over the years. Today the ROE #33 continues the tradition of the 5th Grade Outdoor Education Day every Fall.
On September 28, 2017, The ROE #33 Outdoor Education day was renamed the ROE #33 Ken Russell Outdoor Education day to honor Ken Russell. Ken, IDNR fisheries biologist, who was a presenter from 1987-2014, and a strong supporter of the annual event.
With the sun shining, over 500 area 5th Grade Students, including all Galesburg #205 5th grade students, were at Lake Storey to enjoy all the activities and presentations throughout the day.
