The Galesburg CUSD #205 Board of Education has hired Jeff Ewing as the new principal at Galesburg Junior Senior High School for the 2024-2025 school year.

Mr. Ewing is entering his 20th year in education.  He began his teaching career in the Sherrard School District where he taught physical education and driver education.  Mr. Ewing also coached football and track.  He was very involved in philanthropy for the American Heart Association.  He also served as the Dean of Students and Activities Director for the district.  Mr. Ewing spent one-year teaching and coaching at Mercer County School District before accepting an administrative position in the Monmouth-Roseville School District.  

Mr. Ewing is completing his ninth year in the Monmouth-Roseville School District.  He served as building principal at Harding Primary School prior to transferring to Monmouth-Roseville High School in 2019.  During his time at the high school he has enjoyed watching the teachers deliver high-quality instruction.  “I find myself getting caught up in lessons as I walk through classrooms listening to the instruction that’s occurring.”  He has also enjoyed watching high school students perform on the field, the court, and the stage. Mr. Ewing has served as the color commentator for the local radio station during varsity football games for the past seven years.

During his time as an educator, he has greatly valued the friendships he has made along the way as well as the positive relationships built with the students. “I believe that building relationships with students is the essential element in fostering a positive  learning environment.”  “My vision for Galesburg Jr./Sr. High  School is to ensure it’s a safe environment where students want to succeed.” “I want everyone to be proud to be a Silver Streak.”

Mr. Ewing has two children, Logan (23), Rileigh (20) as well as two grandchildren Mason (5) and Alora (1).  He and his wife Shanna reside on a farm with his 3 step-children, Gracey (17), Kenzley (12), and Weston (9).  He and his wife enjoy fishing, music, and Dallas Cowboy football.
