The Galesburg CUSD #205 Board of Education hired Deb Cratty at the June Board of Education Meeting. Deb stepped into the role after the recent retirement of the previous director, Luan Statham.
The 24-25 school year will be Ms. Cratty’s 19th year in the Galesburg School District. Ms.Cratty began in the district as a special education teacher at Lombard Middle School. After teaching there for five years, her passion for helping all students led her to the Dean of Students role at Lombard Middle School.
In 2016, Ms. Cratty continued her Dean of Students role at Silas Willard Elementary. In 2017, she transitioned to a Special Education Coordinator position where she has worked for the last 8 years.
“I am excited for a new adventure and learning many things along the way as the Director of Special Education.” Galesburg has an excellent staff that makes everything possible in the special education department.
The main reason for Ms. Cratty’s path in education is to support students to become lifelong learners. Ms. Cratty was born and raised in Galesburg and has always had a great desire to give back to the community. When not at work, Ms. Cratty serves on various committees in the community.
Ms. Cratty lives with her boyfriend, Steve. When she isn't enjoying her time with family and friends she is on her patio, which she describes as her happy place where she reads and listens to music. You can also find her on the golf course from time to time trying to improve her golf game.
