Local business owners, Scott and Malany Baldwin, visited Lombard Middle School today to meet with students in the 5th Grade ELA class taught by Mindy Matthews.

Students are creating their own original Orange Cup Drink. Scott and Melany, owners of Orange Cup, were there today to share their stories with students and inspire them in their creative process. They talked about what dreams can do and that their business is based on people and love.

Students have been busy brainstorming creative names, as well as delicious ingredients that will be used to make the drink. Later this week, they will create an advertisement for their drink, which will include different types of figurative language as well as other elements of descriptive language, such as sensory details and vivid verbs.

The best part...at the culmination of the project, some Lombard  Zephyrs will have their drink featured on the Orange Cup menu!

According to Mindy Matthews, "This partnership with Scott and Melany has turned a writing activity into something so relevant and exciting for these Zephyrs!"

We would like to extend our thanks to Scott and Melany for taking the time to come to Lombard and inspire some very excited students.
