The CUSD #205 Board of Education has hired Nicholas Young as the new Assistant Principal/Activity and Athletic Director at Galesburg Junior Senior High School.
Mr. Young graduated from Knox College with a B.A. in Environmental Studies and a B.A. in Educational Studies. He then attended St. Ambrose University and received his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership.
Mr. Young is a lifelong resident of Galesburg. He started his educator career at Churchill Junior High School in 2007. Following 4 years of teaching and 3 years as the Dean of Students at Churchill, Mr. Young was hired at Lombard as the Assistant Principal and later assumed the role of Principal at both Lombard and Churchill. Most recently Mr. Young has served as the Associate Principal and Junior High Athletic Director at Galesburg Jr. Sr. High School for the last 2 years. Additionally, Mr. Young has coached in various roles throughout his career at middle school and high school levels.
According to Mr. Young, “I’m ecstatic about becoming Galesburg’s next Activity and Athletic Director. Working in this capacity has always been a professional goal of mine–I’m a Silver Streak at my core. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to work with and support our students, coaches, families, and community.”
Mr. Young lives in Galesburg with his wife Sara, and 3 children Mackenzie, Hayden, and Alyssa--the latter two who will be seniors at GJSHS next year.
