Galesburg High School Senior, Sofie Jones-Rhoades, spent her summer on tour with River City Rhythm, which competes in the Open Class division of Drum Corps International.
For nearly a half-century, Drum Corps International, Marching Music’s Major League™, has been the leader in producing events for the world’s most elite and exclusive marching ensembles for student musicians and performers.
With RCR, Sofie embarked on a two-month summer tour nationwide, performing in six different states at 18 different shows and parades. This tour will culminate this weekend at DCI World Class Semifinals in Indianapolis, IN.
River City Rhythm placed 6th out of 10 bands in finals competition in Indiana on 8/6, with an all-time high score. Members of the Galesburg Marching Streaks gathered in Hegg PAC to watch a live stream of the show.
Sofie served as a Drum Major for the Marching Streaks for the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 school years. She was also a 2024 Illinois All-State Musician.
