As each school year begins, so does that anticipation and excitement for students and staff at each CUSD #205 school. This year at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School, a Lego-themed school welcomed students when they entered the building. The Lego theme supports the 2023-2024 school theme, Building Successful Futures.
This school year's theme and slogan were selected by the School Improvement Team (SIP) last spring. The SIP team included staff members at King who volunteered their time over the summer to prepare items to bring the theme to life at the school.
Building Successful Futures includes the six building blocks of character that the SIP team felt were important for students:

Students were introduced to the six character building blocks at the King "First Friday Assembly" on August 12th. The blocks will continue to be the basis of the overall building theme throughout the 2023-2024 school year.
